Aspire Gymnastics Academy Triumphs at Dubai Competition

In a spectacular showcase of skill and dedication, the Artistic Gymnastics Individual Apparatus Competition organized by Shams Gymnastics Club in Dubai on May 25, 2024, witnessed fierce competition among eight clubs and 153 gymnasts. The event, scored based on the internationally recognized FIG (International Gymnastics Federation) program, highlighted the outstanding talents of gymnasts from across the region.

Aspire Gymnastics Academy of Bahrain sent a formidable team of 22 gymnasts, consisting of three boys and 19 girls, along with two judges and two coaches. The academy's gymnasts delivered stellar performances across various apparatus categories, securing an impressive medal tally.

For the girls, the competition included events in Vault, Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and Floor Routine. Notable performances included Level 2 Prep gymnast Maya Bakri, who secured a gold medal for her floor routine, and Reem El Zein, who bagged gold on the vault. In Level 2, Noor Alaradi and Maria Arakelyan both earned gold medals for their floor routines and silver medals on the bars. In the Copper (Level 5) category, Mary Barnard dominated with three gold medals on the uneven bars, balance beam, and floor routines, along with one silver on the vault. Eva Challenger, competing in the FIG Bronze level (Level 6), won gold on the bars, silver on the beam, and a bronze medal on the vault.

The boys competed in Parallel Bars, High Bars, Floor Routine, Vault, and Rings. Among them, Level 2 gymnast Yousif Alsairafi won gold medals on the floor and high bars, a silver on rings, and a bronze medal on the vault. Nawaf Alalawi of Level 3 triumphed with three gold medals on the parallel bars, high bars, and floor, and a silver on rings. Andreas Bellido of Level 4 earned three silver medals and one bronze in his USAG routines.

Overall, the Aspire team returned to Bahrain victorious with a total of 15 gold, 18 silver, and 21 bronze medals. Academy Director Jared Fernandez expressed his pride in the team's achievements, stating, "This is a watershed moment for Aspire. Our team of qualified coaches dedicated over nine months to train our gymnasts for this level."

This competition marked Aspire's first regional event since its inception, with the next competition for Levels 3 and 4 scheduled for June 8 at JSA in Abu Dhabi.
